I remember one year we had finished three kitchen projects within the two weeks prior to Christmas. After the holidays, two of the clients called to thank me for the wonderful way that their new kitchen helped them to enjoy the holidays with their families in a more meaningful way. Below are their stories:
I was told that Julie’s birthday was on Christmas and their tradition was to have several other couples over to celebrate with them. This year after the party dinner was over, clean up was considerably different. With a more functional design layout, Dan shared that three people now were able to get in the kitchen at the same time and made clean up a snap. Then they all could go and sit down and socialize together, not leaving the mess later for themselves as usual. His main comment was how he was astonished with just how much more they were able to do with their new kitchen layout design, even though we had not enlarged the existing footprint of the original kitchen.
Kay told me she had raised her two girls in their home and now they were grown and off on their own with their own families. Each year they both come back home for the holidays, and they all like to cook and bake. Kay said that often she was in the kitchen almost the entire day, or so it seemed. Kay then shared in the past she could only cook and share quality special moment time with one daughter at a time, as the old kitchen lacked enough room for all three. This year she was amazed that, even though the kitchen was not made any larger than the old one, there was now an efficient workspace for all three of them, and this year she could cook and be with both of her daughters at the same time. She had called to thank me and share with me just how rewarding the results of her new kitchen meant to her.
