A remodeling project is one of the biggest and most stressful events of a homeowner’s life. It takes a lot of time. It costs a lot of money. Your house literally gets torn apart in front of your eyes. For those who are considering their very first remodel, the process can seem mysterious and confusing. I’d like to try and shed some light on what actually happens during a remodeling project so you know what to expect. While every remodeling project is different, most can be broken down into the following four phases:
- Phase One: Deciding on a contractor
- Phase Two: Planning the project
- Phase Three: Ordering materials
- Phase Four: Performing the remodel
The next four blog posts will explore each of these phases in greater detail. Be aware that every contractor works differently, and your experience as a customer will vary based on the unique requirements of your project and the personality of your contractor. These next posts are merely meant to be a guide so you will understand the process of a remodel project and exactly what it takes to make the new kitchen (or other remodeling project) of your dreams become reality.
